Someday at Christmas the world will have joy
God will grant every wish
No child will perish, early
Every home will have food
No one would be rude
No bedtime will be early
No toy will be to girly
Someday at Christmas
One day every child will play
We will wonder why it wasn't always this way
We will cherish what we have
Not despise what we miss
God will surprise us, and grant every wish
One day at Christmas
One day we will praise the power of love
Not the power of the fist
One day we will give over and above [Luke 21:1-4]
Preach the power of forgiveness
Grant one thing on every child's wishlist
And realize it should have always been like this
One day at Christmas
One warm December our hearts will see
A world where men are free
I would like a world free of enemies
Where men are equal and all are free
MLK said, "maybe not in time for you or me"
I have a limited imaginative capacity
But the power of diversity I can see
To have a President with skin like me
We could let freedom be
From sea to shining sea
Just imagine what America could be
If we ended bigotry
Every man could be the best he could be
That's a December 25th I'd love to see
One day at Christmas
I want a world of opportunity
Someday in a world where people are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmas man will not fail
Hate will be gone and love will prevail
Someday a new world that we can start
With hope in every heart
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where people are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmastime
